InSight: SEIS (Seismic Experiment for Investigating the Subsurface)

October 4, 2023. Reprocessed SEIS data are posted. See the Release Notes for details.

SEIS measures seismic activity on Mars using a Very Broad Band (VBB) 3-axis seismometer and a Short Period (SP) 3-axis seismometer. It is protected on the surface from temperature and pressure variations by a dome-shaped Wind and Thermal Shield.

The SEIS data archived in PDS are also available through the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) and through the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP)
